If you want to look on trend and stylish in 2023/2024 for your photo session then you have come to the right place.
There are so many things happening in fashion right now it can be hard to know what would translate well for photos. I want you to be able to incorporate some of your favorite trends at your next photo session.
Before I became a professional photographer who helps style clients every day I received a BA in Fashion Merchandising, was the editor in chief for a monthly lifestyle publication and I designed and co-owned a women's clothing line. And I am here to tell you that what you wear to your photo session matters and it's not hard to try new trends.
For some of you these may be old trends that you remember wearing when you were younger and it'll be fun to give those styles new life.
Below are my top four trend ideas and how to incorporate a piece with a little something for everyone in the family.
The Neutral Trend With a Print
The Neutral trend was a big hit in late 2022 and early 2023 and it's still going strong but the latest twist in this trend is to now incorporate a neutral print somewhat reminiscent of the 70's style with stripes, checks, or even floral within the mix.
If you're a family then try incorporating a print on just one or two people so it does not go overboard, and have everyone else in a solid neutral.
The Denim Skirt or vintage inspired Denim
Maxi denim skirts are currently on the rise in the fashion world and I think it's a fun way to make a casual denim look a little more dressed up. I also love the way a jean jacket or jumper looks layered over a good neutral base.
Ultra Preppy looks and that 90's Inspired Sweater Vest
Influencers call this next set of looks "old money style." This menswear inspired theme feels like you raided grandpas closet and it's very preppy. It's perfect for fall or spring because sweaters, layers and cardigans really make the look chic.
Feminine Looks and the Satin Skirts
Ladies if you are really looking for a more dressed up and feminine look than the satin skirt trend is one you will want to rock. According to Vogue the satin/silk skirt is "The Wardrobe Staple You Can Wear Nonstop From Winter to Spring."
For fall and winter the perfect way to wear this look is to pair it with a warm cozy sweater and boots, but in the spring swap it out for a tee-shirt and tennis shoes.
